Charitable Giving
Simpson Strong-Tie founder Barclay Simpson created Nine Principles of Business that he believed makes our company successful. One of those principles includes being a charitable company.
Business Principle #8
The company feels an obligation to the system and the country that spawned it, as well as to humanity in general.
"We're all so fortunate. No matter what each of our personal situations is, we know that there are many others in this world who will never have the opportunities we've had. It is our responsibility to reach out, in whatever manner we can, to support others. We're all connected in some way and are all part of a greater community. It's important to make what impact you can – you may not have the financial means that others might have but whatever you can do, do it! Look for small ways to give back every day. Help out your neighbor, make time for others, do what you can." Barclay Simpson
Staying true to Barclay's core values, Simpson Strong-Tie gives back to local communities where its employees live and work year after year. One of the most notable examples is our work with Habitat for Humanity International.
As a proud and long-time supporter of Habitat for Humanity, Simpson Strong-Tie shares a similar mission of helping people build safer, stronger homes economically. Since becoming a national sponsor in 2007, the company has donated nearly $3 million in cash and products. The contribution has helped support several Habitat houses across North America as well as international programs.
In addition, Simpson Strong-Tie employees have contributed hundreds of volunteer hours to build homes and train local Habitat affiliates, along with participating in the annual Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project.
As a manufacturer of engineered structural connectors, prefabricated shearwall panels and fastening systems, Simpson Strong-Tie products are used in new home construction every day. These products are installed during the framing stage of construction to attach the roof, walls, floor and foundation together, which reinforce the structural frame of a home. Although most of these products are hidden inside the walls, they play an important role in making sure a house stays together, particularly in areas subject to high winds, hurricanes and earthquakes. Habitat for Humanity International's vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Anchored by the conviction that housing provides a path out of poverty, Habitat has helped more than five million people since 1976 through home construction, rehabilitation and repairs, and by increasing access to improved shelter through products and services.
